What it does

Real travel time, not guesses

Real routing decides your departure time for each commitment, not a rough rule of thumb.

Knows an airport from a coffee shop

Destination friction and event-type minimums add the right buffer automatically, so a flight gets more slack than a catch-up.

Alerts that arrive with the app closed

Escalating notifications are scheduled and fired server-side, so they reach you even if you have not opened the app all day.

Back-to-back events chain

When one event runs straight into the next, your departure time accounts for getting from one to the other.

Live traffic and your real position

Departure times recalculated from live traffic and from where you actually are, not where you were supposed to be.

Walking and rideshare too

Plan by foot or rideshare as well as driving, with buffers that suit each.

Automatic calendar sync

Connect Google Calendar and upcoming events get leave-by alerts on their own. Read-only — nothing is ever written back.

Free during launch

Leave By is free during launch, with every feature included. Some features will later move to an optional Premium subscription — early users keep them free for a while after that. When Leave By Premium arrives, this is how it will split:

FreePremium
Active events 5 Unlimited
Transport modes Driving All
Departure alerts ✓ ✓
Live location and traffic — ✓
Google Calendar auto-sync — ✓

Leave By exists because “leave at 8” is the wrong unit. What you actually need to know is when to walk out of the door for this meeting, on this day, in this traffic — and you need to be told, rather than having to remember to check.

The app computes a departure time per commitment from real routing, then adds buffer based on what kind of place you are going to. An airport is not a coffee shop; a dentist appointment is not a casual lunch. When two events run into each other it chains them — and with Premium it works from live traffic and your real position, rather than the address you were supposed to be at.

The alerts themselves are scheduled and fired from the server, which is the part that matters: they arrive whether or not the app is running, and they escalate as the deadline approaches.
